Key Properties of 2205 Stainless Steel:
Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
Superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared to 316L and 317L stainless steels in most environments.
High yield strength (approximately twice that of standard austenitic stainless steels like 304 and 316).
Good fatigue strength and impact toughness.
Retains strength and toughness at both elevated and sub-zero temperatures.
Suitable for applications up to around 300°C (572°F).
Generally good weldability, but care must be taken to avoid thermal cracking.
Post-weld heat treatment is recommended for some critical applications to ensure optimal properties.
